About 300 people attended the 23rd annual Tribute to Women and Industry awards dinner held recently by the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County at the BWI Marriott Hotel honoring 26 women and their sponsoring companies. Three of these women were names community honorees and were sponsored by other companies: Elizabeth Barrett, founder of the All Children’s Chorus of Annapolis; JoAnn Price, chairman of Rob’s Barbershop Community Foundation; and Veronica Tovey, publisher, What’s Up? Publishing Group. Carolyn Sullivan, who has coordinated TWIN programs for 23 years, received special recognition. Anne Arundel Community College headed by Dr. Martha Smith was corporate partner with the YWCA and Rhonda Ulmer was guest speaker. Foremothers of the YWCA, the late Esther Carpenter and the late Derby Hirst, were recognized for their contributions to the YWCA and the community.
